Age-related Macular Degeneration or AMD is a deterioration in the health of the most sensitive central portion of the retina (macula) responsible for sharp straight-ahead vision. It is the most common cause of blindness in the people aged 55 years and older in developed countries.

• Find out more about AMD, its possible prevention and the importance of regular eye examinations from educational lectures at many locations across the country during the AMD Awareness Week.
• Eye screening for those aged 55 years and older will be available at a nominal fee of $6.00
• Eye screenings are strictly by appointment only. Kindly call 6379 4098 from 15 August 2008 between 8.30 am - 5.30 pm (Mon – Fri), and 8.30 am - 12.30 pm (Sat) for an appointment.
